Psychology as a Social Justice Practice

Why Mental Health Is a Social Justice Issue

To me, social justice means equitable access to economic, civil, and social resources—including mental health care. Every community deserves opportunities for emotional well-being and psychological support.

Psychologists play a vital role in social change. Through education, advocacy, partnerships, and mentorship, we can help reduce stigma, expand access to care, and encourage future generations to enter the field.

Mental health care is not a luxury—it is a necessity for healthy, functioning communities.
